Your Local Library Can Help!
Some error messages are for issues that your library can help you resolve. While you are seeing the error message on Hoopla, these issues usually pertain to your library’s rules and range of titles, not with decisions Hoopla has made. Here are the library-related error messages:
When You’re Unable to Borrow a Title You Want
- Error Message: Sorry, our lending policy does not allow you to borrow this title.
- Error Message: This content is not currently offered by your library.
- Error Message: This title is currently blocked by your library.
- Error Message: We currently do not offer this title.
- Error Message: We currently do not offer titles with this rating.
Meaning: These are content restrictions set by your library, not by Hoopla. For more information or to request a specific title, please contact your library. In the meantime, please continue to browse Hoopla and borrow another title.
Error Messages That May Occur When You Have a Fine
Error Message: Sorry, it appears you have a fine on your account.
Meaning: This means you have a fine on your library card preventing you from borrowing materials. Please call or stop by your local library to resolve it.
Error Messages You’ll Encounter When Your Library and Hoopla Can’t Connect
Error Message: We can’t authenticate your library server right now. You can try again later or contact your local library.
Meaning: There is an issue with your library’s system, and we cannot verify any information at your library right now. Please try again later or contact your library for more information.
When You Reach a Borrow Limit
Error Message: You have reached your monthly lending limit. Please continue to browse and add to your favorites. See you next month.
Meaning: Your library sets a specific number of titles you can borrow each month, and it is therefore subject to change. On the first of every month, your number resets. Until then, you can select a title and click the “favorites” heart. The item will be added to your favorites list so you won’t forget about it!
*Please note: Returning a title does not increase your borrow limit for the current month. Your borrow limit is a cumulative total for the month, and not a total you can have borrowed at any given time. Your title is available for a set number of days regardless of when during the month your title was borrowed.
Until then, you can select a title and click the “favorites” heart. The item will be added to your favorites list so you won’t forget about it!
We recommend you borrow as early in the morning as possible, since the limit resets at midnight.
If you have any further questions regarding this issue please reach out to your library.
Hoopla Issues
Some error messages let you know that the issue is with Hoopla, not with your library. Here are those errors and how to address them:
Error Message: This title is currently unavailable. Please continue to browse and borrow another title.
Meaning: There is an issue with this title and we are working on resolving it now, or we no longer offer the title on Hoopla. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Error Message: Invalid PIN on your account
Meaning: This could be a couple of things.
- Your library card or PIN may be entered incorrectly on Hoopla. Please check hoopladigital.com/my/settings and verify both numbers.
Note: If the settings do not show a PIN field, your library does not require a PIN for you to use Hoopla; you only have to verify your library card.
- Your library card may have expired. Please contact your local library to get this resolved.
