The year 2005 marked an exciting development for fans of science fiction! After a wait of more than 15 years, the rebooted BBC Doctor Who, one of the most beloved (and longest-running!) science fiction series of all time. 

The year 2025 marks another exciting development for Doctor Who fans. Beginning on November 23, series 1-4 of Doctor Who will be available on Hoopla. Then, over the next several months, Doctor Who series 5-13 will become available as well.

Series 1: The Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)

Meet the Ninth Doctor 

Emerging as the apparent sole survivor of the Last Great Time War, the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) was haunted by the warโ€™s horrors and his guilt over seemingly destroying Gallifrey and annihilating the Time Lords and Daleks. Masking his pain with charm, he often brooded while navigating the Post-Time War universe. 

Series 1: The Ninth Doctor, crosses paths in the present day with Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), an ordinary shopgirl who becomes his partner in extraordinary adventures. Series 2โ€“4: The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant)  

Meet the Tenth Doctor 

The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) masked his deep guilt over the Time War with a cheerful, carefree exterior. Beneath this, lingering sorrow and anger simmered, surfacing in conflict to reveal a fiercely protective, determined figure, relentless and unforgiving toward any threat to those he loved until triumph was achieved.  

Series 2: Rose continues her adventure with the newly regenerated Tenth Doctor. Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke) joins their travels. They step aboard the TARDIS and embark on time-spanning adventures. They visit parallel worlds, face terrifying foes, reunite with old allies, and face a conflict between the Cybermen and the Daleks. Series 3: Medical student Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) meets the Doctor and is swept into adventures that transform her life. Doctor Who Series 5-7 (Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith)

Meet the Eleventh Doctor 

As the final incarnation of his original cycle, the Eleventh Doctorโ€™s (Matt Smith) legendary reputation drew new conflicts, fueled by the universeโ€™s fear of him and his fate on Trenzalore. He became secretive and cunning to protect himself and loved ones, while also embracing a whimsical, adventurous life, delighting in mysteries and cosmic fun. 

Series 5: After his fiery regeneration, the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, meets Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and invites her aboard the restored TARDIS. Their travels bring them face-to-face with returning Daleks, alien vampires, ancient reptilian beings, the formidable Weeping Angels, and a haunting, unseen threat. 

Series 6: The Doctor travels with newlyweds Amy and Rory (Arthur Darville) and the ever-enigmatic River Song (Alex Kingston)โ€”from a forgotten 1960s invasion and pirate seas of 1696 to a bubble universeโ€”culminating in the harrowing battle of Demonโ€™s Run. 

Series 7: The Eleventh Doctor, Amy, and Rory, face capture by the Daleks and a perilous Wild West adventure while protecting Earth. Joined by the mysterious Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman), they confront threats across distant worlds and travel to  Trenzalore to face a long-forbidden question.

Doctor Who Series 8-10 (Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi)

Meet the Twelfth Doctor 

The Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi), the first of a new regeneration cycle granted by the Time Lords at Clara Oswaldโ€™s urging after the Siege of Trenzalore, was pragmatic and often blunt, discarding pleasantries under pressure. Beneath his sharp, calculating exterior, he remained deeply empathetic, driven by a genuine desire to help and show kindness.  

Series 8: Clara struggles to reconcile the Doctorโ€™s new face with the man she once trusted while danger stirs in London. Together, they face an old enemy, explore wonders and horrors, infiltrate a Dalek stronghold, and travel back to help Robin Hood confront deadly robots.  

Series 9: The Doctor and Clara continue their travels, at times accompanied by Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and UNIT. They face the Master, stopping the Zygons from overrunning Earth, navigating a haunting shifting castle, and ultimately returning to Gallifrey to face the Time Lords again. 

Series 10: The Doctor and Nardole (Matt Lucas) settle into life at a university, posing as professor and assistant. Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) becomes the Doctorโ€™s student, soon joining their adventures. They face Ice Warriors, Cybermen, and a chilling confrontation with a familiar past foe.

Doctor Whoย Series 11-13 (Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker)

Meet the Thirteenth Doctor 

Though familiar with secrecy, the Thirteenth Doctorโ€™s (Jodie Whittaker) life of conspiracies and hidden truths often left her questioning her own identity. She masked her doubts with a curious, energetic, and compassionate demeanor, occasionally erupting in brief bursts of anger under stress. Still, she primarily embraced hope, empathy, and aiding those in need. 

Series 11: After crash-landing on Earth following her explosive regeneration, the Doctor struggles with her identity. With the support of Grace, Graham, Ryan, and Yaz, her memories return and she finds herself leaping from heights and venturing into the depths of space. 

Series 12: The Thirteenth Doctor, accompanied by Ryan, Yaz, and Graham, faces her greatest challenges yet. Along the way, they meet Captain Jack Harkness, uncover secrets from a Gloucester tour guide, and battle returning foes, including the Judoon,  Cybermen, and her own mysterious past. 

Series 13: The Flux forces the Thirteenth Doctor to confront troubling mysteries about her identity and her ties to the Time Lordsโ€™ secret division. With help from Vinder, Bel, Karvanista, and Joseph Williamson, she defeats the Ravagers and the Sontarans, safeguarding Earth.
