The month of March may be focused on women’s history, but in pop music, there has rarely been a better time than right now. Here’s a quick look at just some of the great work women are doing right now in the music world.
It’s Taylor’s World; We’re All Just Living in It

One need look no further than the career of Taylor Swift, whose star has been rising seemingly nonstop since she burst onto the scene in 2006. Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, was the biggest-selling album of 2024, and her celebrated Eras tour sold out stadiums all over the world for nearly two years on its way to becoming the highest-grossing concert tour of all time.
Grammy Recognition
While The Tortured Poets Department did not win Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on February 2, it was one of the nominees. In fact, of the eight nominees for that honor, six of them were by women. Other women up for the award included Billie Eilish (Hit Me Hard and Soft), Chappell Roan (The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess), Charli xcx (BRAT), and Sabrina Carpenter (Short n’ Sweet).

Other notable Grammy nominations and wins by women:
- Ariana Grande, Eternal Sunshine (Best Pop Vocal Album)
- Clairo, Charm (Best Alternative Music Album)
- Brittany Howard, What Now (Best Alternative Music Album)
- St. Vincent, All Born Screaming (Best Alternative Music Album – WINNER)
- Lalah Hathaway, Vantablack (Best R&B Album)
- Muni Long, Revenge (Best R&B Album)
- Doechii, Alligator Bites Never Heal (Best Rap Album – WINNER)
