Best Movie Soundtracks of the Summer 

Some movie soundtracks make a big splash, like Chariots of Fire, Grease, and The Lion King: Special Edition. There’s been a resurgence lately of soundtracks that are specifically made for a particular film, like F1 and Smurfs (see article), and there are others that are expert curations of songs that were already hits, now enjoying new popularity. This summer, we’ve got some of the very best movie soundtracks— ones that will enjoy a life of their own long after their movie has left the theater. And they’re all free to borrow, no holds and no waits. 

Here’s a collection of some of the very best movie soundtracks on Hoopla, and here are a few highlights from this summer: 

F1 the Album  

F1, the racing movie starring Brad Pitt, has a similarly high-octane collection of hits. It features songs from a few Hoopla-favorite artists, including Ed Sheeran, Rosé and Chris Stapleton. 

KPop Demon Hunters 

This movie is the surprise release of the summer. Which makes the soundtrack from the movie KPop Demon Hunters just as unexpected. Three K-Pop superstars, Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo), are musicians by day, demon hunters by night. This release had the highest ranking on Billboard (see article) for a soundtrack since Wicked.

Smurfs Movie Soundtrack 

Not only does this movie bring Peyo’s beloved blue creations to the big screen, it also features a new song by  Rihanna. Rhianna (who voices Smurfette) hasn’t released and album in nearly ten years. The song she contributed to the soundtrack, “Friend of Mine,” is Rhianna’s first song release in three years!    

A Minecraft Movie  

This blockbuster film starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black is still going strong and breaking records. The soundtrack for A Minecraft Movie, just like the movie itself, is still big on the charts in the summer of 2025. Jack Black’s “Steve’s Lava Chicken” song still reigns the charts for a second month. (see article)   

Hit Summer Soundtracks of 2023 and 2024

Encanto Soundtrack

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Encanto songs, especially “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” blend Latin rhythms with storytelling to make one of the best movie soundtracks in recent years.    

Mamma Mia Soundtrack 

This one’s packed with classic ABBA hits like “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia.” Perfect for sunny days and impromptu singalongs.
