Sense and Sensibility 

In late-1800s Southwest England, sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood have lost their lost inheritance and are forced to resettle at Barton Park, where new relationships and romantic upheavals reshape their futures. Confronted with secrets and societal pressures, the sisters must choose between (you guessed it) sense and sensibility. 

Northanger Abbey 

Seventeen-year-old Catherine Morland, eager for new experiences, travels to Bath with her neighbors. Though initially lonely, she soon meets Henry Tilney and later becomes close to Isabella Thorpe, whose brother John complicates matters. His meddling repeatedly disrupts Catherine’s growing connection with the Tilneys, causing persistent misunderstandings. 

Persuasion (read by Rosalyn Landor) 

Anne Elliot lives at Kellynch Hall with her sisters and vain father, Sir Walter. When financial troubles force the family to relocate to Bath, Anne visits beforehand and reconnects with old acquaintances, including former fiancé Frederick Wentworth, discovering renewed possibilities for love she once thought lost. 

Lady Susan (read by Rosalyn Landor) 

In this short epistolary novel, Lady Susan Vernon is a charming yet manipulative widow determined to secure an advantageous marriage. While pursuing a married man, she schemes to find a suitable husband for herself and her daughter, using her wit and beauty to captivate much younger suitors. 

From Prada to Nada (2011) based on Sense and Sensibility 

Nora and Mary (Camilla Belle and Alexa PenaVega), two pampered sisters enjoying a glamorous life in Beverly Hills, are thrown for a loop when their devoted father dies suddenly. Sent to live with their long-estranged aunt in East LA, they’re pushed out of their comfort zone—and end up rediscovering their heritage in this funny, heartwarming romantic comedy. 

Mansfield Park (1999) 

When lively young Fanny Price (Frances O’Connor) is sent to her wealthy cousins’ grand country estate, she’s expected to be molded into a proper lady. But as she adapts to their refined world, Fanny also brings her own wit, warmth, and bright spirit—changing them as much as they shape her.

Emma Woodhouse, pleased by her former governess’s happy marriage, convinces herself she orchestrated the match and has a gift for pairing lovers. Determined to guide her friend Harriet Smith toward an ideal husband, she triggers a series of amusing misunderstandings while gradually discovering her own need for self-awareness and growth.
