From Superman, to Fantastic Four, 2025 has been a banner year so far for comic book lovers, and that was fully displayed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. As SDCC 2025 has come and gone there’s a ton of news for comic book lovers to catch-up on from the event. From DC and Marvel collaborations to new trailers, there was something at SDCC 2025 for everyone. If you were unable to attend, we’ll fill you in on all of the updates below!

First things first are the Eisner Award Winners for 2025. Some of the winners include:

DC Comics: Absolute Universe Addition – Absolute Green Arrow

In other news, DC comics announced the addition to the Absolute Universe with Absolute Green Arrow. The Absolute Universe (AU) is a brand-new continuity independent from the DCU. This continuity began in October 2024, and the first AU titles, Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Batman are coming to Hoopla soon, so stay tuned!
DC/Marvel Comics Crossover Event
Fans of both Marvel and DC comics who have been eagerly waiting for the two entities to partner up can now rejoice! That’s because Comic-Con 2025 brought to light the revelation that Deadpool and Batman will be joining forces this fall with Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1.
That’s not all coming from Marvel, as Captain America will be taking on Alien in a crossover that kickstarts a four-issue limited series. Along with the DC and Alien crossovers, Marvel also announced the arrival of a new limited series slated to debut later this year.
Marvel to Add New Series to the Ultimate Universe
Fans of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe series received some good news, too. During a panel providing fans with updates on the un at SDCC 2025, news of the release of Ultimate Endgame was unveiled. Ultimate Endgame is a five-issue limited series that will begin this winter. During this panel, it was also revealed that the events in Ultimate Spider-Man will come to a close during Issue #24. Fans are warned that they should prepare for quite a startling finale!
Nickelodeon Celebrates 20 Years of Avatar The Last Airbender, Sneak Peak of Avatar Seven Havens

Comic-Con 2025 also served as a celebration of 20 years of Avatar: The Last Airbender. At SDCC 2025, fans were treated to a reunion of the main cast, along with panel readings. Additionally, attendees got to view a sneak peek of the 2D animation project, Avatar: Seven Havens. Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender can gear up for the new project by reading comics available on Hoopla today!
Transformers & G.I JOE: All Out War in Image’s Energon Universe:

The Energon Universe panel received high praise at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, as they revealed some exciting developments within the universe. The news that the worlds of G.I Joe and Transformers would be colliding went over well with attendees. The collaboration between the Transformers and G.I JOE Franchises represents a brand-new era for fans of both titles.
TMNT x Godzilla Crossover Event Announced

Another crossover event sure to capture the attention of comic book fanatics is the collaboration between the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Godzilla. The announcement came during the “Godzilla at 70: Seven Decades of the King of Monsters panel at SDCC 2025. The series is anticipated to launch as early as November.
Something is Killing the Children Series Update:

If you’ve enjoyed the first installments of the Something is Killing the Children series, you’re in luck! That’s because at SDCC 2025, it was announced that the series would run at least 100 issues. For writer James Tynion IV, this would mark the longest run of any series he’s ever worked on. So with another 60 issues to go, give or take, stay tuned for upcoming issues!
